Holiday guests, couples, friends, researchers, doctoral students, visiting academics, writers, educators, independent professionals, volunteers, and nonprofit teams are welcome. You do not need to belong to a university to discuss an independent stay.

Yes. We provide accommodation for individuals volunteering in Kenya and for nonprofit or NGO teams. Share your placement location, dates, and daily transport needs so we can check that the Hut is a practical base. Volunteer placements are arranged separately from accommodation.

Discuss a short holiday, academic, writing or professional retreat, or a longer stay of one, three, six, or twelve months. All dates and durations depend on availability and an agreed quote.

Yes. Grand Burnham Hut offers scholarships covering accommodation. Select Accommodation scholarship in the enquiry form and tell us about your work, dates, length of stay, and support needs. We will explain the application process and confirm the award terms. Meals, laundry, safari, transfers, and other costs should be discussed separately; they are not automatically covered by an accommodation scholarship.

A stay does not include academic credit, a stipend, or formal university affiliation. Accommodation scholarships are offered separately and must be confirmed in writing.

Student rates for a 30-night stay are US$599 per person in a shared twin room, US$899 for a private room, and US$1,199 for a deluxe suite. Private rooms and suites are priced for one guest. All three student options include three daily meals prepared by our private chef, weekly laundry, 5G Wi-Fi, and access to the library and room and rooftop workspaces. Airport transfers and safaris are optional and charged separately. Your written quote confirms the total payable, tax treatment and any extras. Ask about other stay lengths.

No. This website helps you prepare a booking enquiry. Availability, rates, and your reservation are confirmed directly by the host in writing.

It prepares an enquiry for you to review, then lets you open a draft in your email app or Gmail, or copy the message into another email service. Nothing is sent automatically, and completing the form does not reserve a room.

Yes. 5G Wi-Fi is available. If your work depends on video calls, large uploads, or time-critical access, discuss current speeds, coverage, and backup arrangements with us before booking.

A room booking does not provide automatic programme access or research permission. Any visit must be separately agreed, with consent, safeguarding, and relevant permissions in place.
